NCSPOD 2006 Conference, in Texas?
by Patsy Lemaster, FPECC Board Co-Chair/Project Director
posted 4/27/05
As the incoming President for National Council, Staff and Organizational Development (NCSPOD) and as endorsed by those of you at the TCCTA Annual Convention, we have been making tentative plans for the 2006 international conference. As you will recall, the POD representatives attending TCCTA volunteered to take active roles in planning and hosting the conference if conducted in the state of Texas (thus allowing more of the Texas POD people to attend)!
An update on the planning as it currently exists . . . tentative dates of November 1-4, 2006 have been selected. The conference will be conducted in Fort Worth at the Renaissance-Worthington Hotel so mark your calendars now! Now, the hard part . . .
What activities do you think we might sponsor at the 2006 NCSPOD conference to reflect a "Texas" theme?
We need your suggestions! Let us know your thoughts! We will be contacting many of you individually to request assistance throughout the conference to handle registration, host events, and assist with specific planning.
What would YOU like to do to support this statewide effort? E-mail me at lemaster-pc@actx.edu.

Have you reviewed the links related to other Professional and Organizational programs found on this web yet? If not, please take a look at two that I found to be EXCELLENT sites. They are great models and have a wealth of information for those of us who work with institutional programs for Professional and Organizational Development (POD). Check these out and let us know of other websites we might want to feature!
**Metropolitan Community College, Omaha, Nebraska (a link from my NCSPOD friend, Kay Friesen)

**Austin Community College, Austin, Texas (a link from “one of our own,” Terry Stewart-Mouchayleh)

We have just posted the first plan for Professional and Organizational Development (POD) to be shared with all POD providers throughout the state. Those of you who were able to attend the TCCTA Convention in Austin will recall that we agreed that sharing such plans would be a great benefit for all of us working with POD.
Although the plan recently posted for Amarillo College is current, it is always changing. (I assume that is the reason that we in POD are called “change agents”!) It would be great to collect as many different plans as exist throughout the state to be posted on this website. I, as a practitioner, could then use YOUR plans to determine how I may want to reconfigure MY program so that it might be even more effective.
We encourage you to share your plan! To have your POD organizational structure and/or plan posted to this website, please forward your documents to Marcos Molina.

The Great Teachers Round Up

The Great Teachers Round Up to be sponsored by TCCTA is to be conducted at Lazy Hills Guest Ranch in Ingram, near Kerrville on May 17-21, 2005. We would like to know if the GTR (Great Teachers Round Up) information is being shared/promoted within your institutions? At this time, we, at Amarillo College, are planning to send two representatives. What is the status of enrollment from your institution? Is the information being disseminated through your office (office of POD representatives)? If not, please share how we can make sure that the invitation is being extended to all faculty throughout the state? For more information, please see the Great Teachers Round Up PDF file in the TCCTA website.

TCCTA Convention - POD Group Name
by Patsy Lemaster, FPECC Board Co-Chair/Project Director
posted 4/08/05
In our discussions at the TCCTA Convention in February, Professional and Organizational (POD) Institutional Representatives were asked to contribute ideas for naming the group. Comments collected indicated that most were in favor of naming the group the Texas Council for Professional and Organizational Development (TXPOD).
We like confirmation of the proposed name from those of you throughout the state who work as practitioners of POD at two-year colleges. Let us know your thoughts! We would truly appreciate the comments of those who were unable to attend as well as the reactions of those who were in Austin sharing ideas with us on this day!

Thanks to all of you who attended the meeting of the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Institutional Representatives during the TCCTA Convention in February. We had some very good discussions! The information complied from those discussions has been used to create the website for the Foundation. We would like to invite you to browse the website and to provide us with any suggestions and/or comments.
In the next few weeks, we will be posting a number of topics and additional programming "tips and tricks" to begin shaping the website and the future of POD practitioners within the state. Let us know your thoughts!
